About
Palgatasku is a net-pay calculator for Estonia, for anyone working here or weighing up a move. Every figure used in the calculation traces to an official source, with the date it was last checked.

What Palgatasku is for
Palgatasku is a net-pay calculator for Estonia. Its job is narrow and honest: to show how a gross salary on a contract becomes the net amount that lands in your account. It works through the same steps a payroll department does — the employee unemployment-insurance contribution, the funded pension (II pillar), the basic exemption and the flat income tax — and it also shows the total employer cost, the social tax and employer contribution that sit on top of your gross. The aim is a clear, itemized breakdown rather than a single mystery number.
Where the figures come from
Every rate and amount is meant to trace back to a primary source — the Estonian Tax and Customs Board (EMTA) and Riigi Teataja for the statutory values, and the national statistics office for context figures. The calculation logic is written once and driven entirely by those values, so the same numbers appear in the calculator, in the explainer pages and in the answers, and a change is made in one place only.
An honest note on status
Every rate used in the calculator is drawn from a primary source, with a citation for each. The figures it shows are the rates in force for 2026. No automated process decides that a rate is correct — each one is transcribed from the source cited beside it, and where a reference is still open (for example the exact minimum-wage regulation) the page says so rather than citing it as fact. The reviewer of record has not completed the site’s sign-off sheet, and the result is an estimate rather than your actual withholding — for an official amount, check your payslip or the Tax and Customs Board.
